Kenya Forest Service Rangers Recruitment Requirements

This article is about Kenya Forest Service Rangers Recruitment Requirements. The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) is a state agency established under the Forest Conservation and Management Act 2016.

The mandate of KFS is to preserve, protect and manage forest resources for economic benefit for present and future generations.

KFS invites qualified, performance-oriented and highly motivated individuals to fill the ranks of Ranger, Assistant Ranger and Forester positions whenever available.

The terms of employment for those above are permanent and pension based on successful completion of training and subsequent certification.

Kenya Forest Service Rangers Recruitment Requirements

  • Must be a citizen of Kenya.
  • Must have a national ID card.
    A minimum of D+ in KCSE (exam result report will not be accepted).
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 28
  • Be 5.6 feet (men) and 5.3 feet (women) tall.
  • Physically fit and healthy.
  • Candidates must not be pregnant prior to employment and during training.
  • Have a valid ID from the Criminal Investigation Department.


In addition, successful applicants will be required;

Passed another medical examination at the Forest Law Enforcement Academy. Undergo 9 months intensive training with forest law enforcers (conservation officers).
Meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya.

Interested candidates should apply at their respective recruitment centers as announced by KFS.

Applicants must present both original and photocopies of national identity cards, educational certificates and testimonials.

Forestry III intervention requirements

  • Must be a citizen of Kenya.
  • A holder of a forest certificate from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of D+ in KCSE.
  • Sophistication in computer applications.
  • Have a valid DCI clearance certificate.
  • In addition, applicants will be expected to successfully:
  • Complete intensive training in forest law enforcement (conservation officers).
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Act.


Requires graduation of Forester II

  • Must be a citizen of Kenya.
  • A holder of a degree in forestry from a reputed institution.
  • Sophistication in computer applications.
  • Have a valid DCI clearance certificate.
  • In addition, applicants will be expected to successfully:
  • Complete intensive training in forest law enforcement (conservation officers).
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Act.
