The Lamu archipelago is a small group of islands located off the northern coast of Kenya near Somali and the islands that make up the archipelago are Lamu, Manda, Pate and Kiwayuu. Lamu county has a land area of 6,474.7 km2 which includes the mainland and more than 65 islands that form the Lamu archipelago. The total length of the coast is 130 km, while the area of the land mass of water is 308 km.
Lamu is divided into two constituencies and 10 wards.
