AGPO defination

Access to Public Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) is a program created to facilitate the participation of businesses owned by youth, women and people with disabilities in public procurement opportunities. The AGPO program was officially launched on 16 October 2013 in Nairobi. The program is based on the 2010 Constitution of Kenya, Article 227 on fair, equitable, transparent and cost-effective public procurement of goods and services, the 2010 Constitution of Kenya, Article 55 on Affirmative Action and the public procurement and the disposal of assets. , 2015.

Requirements for young people

Kenyan national identity card/passport (young people between 18 and 34 years old).

  • Business Registration Certificate/Certificate of Incorporation
  • CR12 for limited liability companies from the commercial register

  • Letter/certificate from the National Construction Authority for the construction category.

How to join the AGPO

  1. Register a commercial company with the Attorney General’s Office in the form of a sole proprietorship, partnership or limited liability company. Business owned by young people, women or people with disabilities must be a legal entity registered with the appropriate government agency.

2. If the business is a partnership, obtain a company deed from a solicitor, if it is a limited company, a CR12 from the companies register.

3. Purchase a PIN and tax compliance/exemption certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority website.

4. Acquire all required certifications from professional bodies and authorities such as National Construction Authority, Insurance Regulatory Authority, ICPAK, LSK, National Council for Persons with Disabilities, NEMA, ERC and other authorized bodies.

5. Open a bank account for the company and obtain a bank reference from the bank.

6. Log on to the website www.agpo.go.ke and register online or visit your nearest Huduma Center for assistance.
