The Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) is a regulatory body established by the Nursing Act, Chapter 257 of the Constitution of Kenya, to regulate the training and practice of nursing and midwifery. Established in 1983, the Nursing Council of Kenya is the only professional association for nursing and midwifery in Kenya. Its head office is located at NCK Plaza on Kabarnet Lane, off Ngong Road in Nairobi.

  2. It registers and provides nurses and midwives trained in and outside of Kenya.
  3. It establishes and regulates the standards of all branches of the nursing profession and protects the interests of all nurses in Kenya.
  4. The council establishes and promotes standards of professional nursing and health care in the community.
  5. The council provides training and education of those who want to register or register as nurses or midwives in the country.
  6. The Council prescribes and organizes educational and training programs for those who wish to register or be registered as nurses or midwives in Kenya.
  7. The Council issues orders and conducts examinations for those who wish to register or be registered in the profession of nursing and midwifery.
  8. The Council shall prescribe the badge, emblem or uniform to be worn by those registered, registered or authorized to practice nursing or midwifery in Kenya.
  9. It supports institutions to be approved for nursing and midwifery training in Kenya.
  10. Develops and revises training manuals for nurses and midwives.
