Kenya Law School Admission Requirements for Lawyers Training Program

Study period: 18 months; 12 months internal and 6 months pupilage.

KSL Entry requirements

Candidates admitted to the LL.B AFTER 8 DECEMBER 2014 must meet the following requirements:-

Graduates of Kenyan universities:

He achieved a minimum grade of B (normal) in English or Kiswahili language and an average grade of C (plus) in Kenya.
KCSE Secondary Examination Certificate) or its equivalent;

OR
anyone who’s have obtained a minimum of two (2) principals and one (1) subsidiary for a total of ten (10) points in Kenya.
Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) or equivalent;

AND
Have passed the 16 compulsory core subjects as stipulated in the second syllabus of the Legal Education Act of 2012;
AND
Have or be eligible to obtain an LL.B degree from a recognized university in Kenya.

NB: Candidates with secondary school qualifications other than those offered by Kenya National
The Examinations Council (KNEC) must ask the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) for an equation.

Graduates from foreign universities

Obtain a minimum grade of B (normal) in English or Kiswahili language and an average grade of C (plus) in English or Kiswahili language.
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) or equivalent;

OR
have obtain a minimum of two (2) principals and one

(1) subsidiary for a total of ten (10) points in
the Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) or equivalent;

AND
Have passed the 16 compulsory core subjects as required in the Second Legal Education Programme.

AND Have or be entitled to obtain a recognized LL.B degree from a foreign university;

AND Obtain authorization from the Council of Legal Education (CLE)
You must take and pass the pre-bar examination as stipulated in the second syllabus of the Kenya School of Science.

2. Candidates admitted to the LL.B BEFORE 8 DECEMBER 2014 must meet the following requirements: –

Having passed the relevant examination at any recognized university in Kenya, he meets or has met the requirements
for obtaining the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) at that university

After passing the relevant examinations at a university, university college or other institutions prescribed by the Council of Legal Education, holds or has become eligible for the degree of Bachelor of Laws
(LL.B) with a scholarship from that university, college or other institution and before enrolling in that university, university college or other institution –

(i) met the minimum entry requirements for admission to a university in Kenya;

AND
ii) obtained a minimum grade of B (normal) in English and an average grade of C (plus) in Kenya
Secondary examination certificate or equivalent;

Has a law degree (LL.B) from a recognized university and

has obtained a minimum grade of C (plus) in English and has a minimum overall grade of C (normal) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination a higher qualification, e.g. Levels “A”, “IB”, related “Diploma”, other “university degree”

having obtained a law degree after undergraduate studies in the graduate law program; OR A law degree (LL.B) from a recognized university and having obtained a minimum grade of C (minus) in English and a minimum overall grade of C (minus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination
takes and passes the pre-bar examination established by the Kenya School of Law as a prerequisite for admission.

Applicants who wish to be admitted to the program must apply via the online application portal.
available on the school website www.ksl.ac.ke.

The following documents must be uploaded to the portal:

Copy of the LL.B diploma, degree certificate or proof of eligibility for the award;

Copies of academic documents for the four (4) academic years; NB. (Provisional transcripts are only
accepted if they show proof of completion of the LL.B. program)
Copy of secondary school certificate(s);

Copy of valid national identity document or passport;
Two passport-size color photographs;
Copy of the registration fee payment receipt issued by the Kenya School of Law;

Copy of the CLE authorization letter for holders of LL.B degrees from foreign universities;
KNQA Equation Letter for Secondary School Qualifications Not Offered by KNEC;
Copy of the letter of admission to the LL.B;

Applicants are required to deposit a non-refundable application processing fee of Kshs. 2000
