How To Apply For An Interim Driving License In Kenya

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to apply for a temporary driving permit in Kenya.

1. Log in to your eCitizen portal or create an account first if you don’t have one.

2. Go to the National Transport and Safety Authority tab, click on get jobs.

3. Click “Make Request

  1. Select “driver’s license,” then click on the three options (NC Driver’s License) and enter.
  2. Complete the information below carefully.
  • Test drive reservation form (TBD)
  • License Application Number
  1. Review your entry, then click the Submit button to finish.
  2. You will be directed to the payment page. Choose your preferred payment method, M-pesa or bank option. You will be charged Kshs 750. Proceed to payment as required.
  3. After paying the fee, click Next and proceed to submit your application.
  4. Temporary licenses will be processed immediately. You can download your temporary license by clicking the download button in the upper right corner of your screen.

10. From there you will be able to print a temporary driver’s license that will be used while you wait for your driver’s license.

  1. The provisional license will show all the relevant details, your driving class, the date of application and the expiry date of the provisional licence. It will be valid for one year.
