This article is about Tier 2 banks in Kenya. The Central Bank of Kenya has classified Kenya’s commercial banks into three categories; Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3. This classification is based on a weighted ratio of all equity, principal, reserves, customer deposits, number of loans and deposit accounts.
According to the Central Bank of Kenya’s latest annual banking supervision report, eight commercial banks are classified as Tier 2 (middle group). These banks have a combined market share of 16.29%.
